How to fish in Pacific City

Saturday, October 3rd, 2026

Fishing on the Oregon Coast can be a chore. With so many charters and guides you might find yourself overwhelmed with information. Here are 5 steps that can make it really easy:

  1. Keep a range of days available. A lot of charters might be booked or not available for the one day you set aside. Keep your schedule flexible and you’ll have a better trip.
  2. Follow all of the details that are given to you ahead of your date. Rain gear, anti nausea medicine, snacks… these are not optional. Remember that your guide has lots of examples of what not to do, and that’s probably why they are telling you otherwise.
  3. Ask questions. Prior to the trip and during the instructional portions. If you don’t know something or want to learn, just ask! You’ll have a much better trip.
  4. Communicate a lot. During the fishing trip there is a lot going on. Make sure you’re calling out when you got a fish on the line, and what you’re seeing.
  5. Save yourself the headaches: just book through Pacific City Fishing.

We had a great and safe day on the water. Thanks so much to Mark, Linda, and Roo (the shop dog).
