What a haul!

Had a great day on the ocean today with Pacific City Fishing! We prepped the night before with some Dramamine, and second early in the morning. The parking lot was dark when we pulled in at the Pelican Brewery, and Mark greeted us with his truck and trailer. We gathered our things and loaded into the boat, then enjoyed the ride down to the sand. The launch was exciting and smooth, with Mark and his crew perfectly timing the waves for a thrilling launch into the early morning fog. Be sure to follow directions and hold on tight! Once on the water, we set the crab pots, then went about searching for rock fish. It’s important that you set your lure at the right depth and reel in smoothly once you hook one. After hitting our limit, we ventured further out and caught some bait fish off the bottom (up to 6 at a time!), then went for the big boys - cod! Finding the bottom and keeping your depth with your bait is critical, but shortly after we hit pay dirt - five beautiful fish that put up a good fight. The highlight was the exhilarating arrival, where Captain Mark drove the dory boat right up onto the beach to the thrill of onlookers. Highly recommend this experience for your visit to Pacific City!
