It all started around 5:15 and our group met and pondered how we get the boat in the water. We all got our life vests and were given some simple instructions to have a great time! We could tell right away that everyone had awesome senses of humor. On our awesome "Lytle" dory boat we had 6 men and 2 women. The ladies were positioned in the back of th boat, two in front and two on the sides. As some light started to brighten the misty purple sky, we realized how the trucks guide the boats into the waves and the Captain pushes the boat and jumps in. The boat goes straight into the waves! And by straight, I mean into, up and over the wake! Exciting! We got a little wet through that first part but besides the couple of belly laughs and curse words, we were having a blast. Our outstanding sense of humor crew consisted of the Schmidlkofer family, (Shane, Kyle, Bob and Samantha) Chuck and Jeanette, and our clever captain, Mark. Although a couple of us got a little sea sick, we managed to catch our limit of Ling Cod rock fish and that did not dampen our time together! Mark was incredibly helpful  with tips to be successful. Mark guided the boat around Haystack rock a couple hours after sunrise and the fog and sunshine created the coolest effect. Gorgeous. Bob pulled up three crab pots and after we cruised straight into the shore, we warmed up and feasted on freshly boiled crab outside Marks house. Literally the most delicious crab we've ever had. We packed fish and crab up and took some home to freeze. All in all, the fishing was simple, exciting and so cool to do for the first time. Our group seemed like we had known each other for a lifetime and was a whimsical way to start the day on vacation at the coast. Pacific city and Dory boats are an Oregon coast gem.
