What a fun day! It started super early, we were out of bed at 3am, at the beach by 5. We were met with a happy good morning and big smiles. Everything was set up and ready to go by Mark and Marcus. We got our life vests on, loaded on the boat, and put in on the beach. I’ve never done that before, it was a unique experience, these guys are skilled! We got very clear instructions on safety and expectations for the different spaces on the boat where we were to stay for the trip. I’m glad we brought our wet weather gear, we got splashed right out the gate! We limited out on rock fish before 6am and moved onto picking up the crab pots, almost 60 dungeoness crab! Then we headed further out to troll for Coho and Chinook Salmon. My favorite part! Those fish fight like crazy and really make you work for it! I also enjoyed that there’s not much skill needed for Salmon trolling, and the guys handled everything for the setup/lure situation. Once you get a fish on, it’s all excitement and (fun) chaos. I was out of breath within seconds trying to reel those big Salmon in! Doing Lamaze breaths, haha. Gorgeous fish, and a good work out. I caught 3 salmon, but had to let 2 go because they were wild. All in all we kept 8 Salmon, returned 3. We are off the water by about 9:30, it was a an awesome and successful fishing trip. We headed back to Mark’s shop, where is gracious wife Linda hosted us, and he showed us how to process the crab and fish. They handled everything for getting our catches ready to be stored/transported while we hung out, watched & learned, and finished our coffees, and maybe had a beer or three. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. I definitely recommend taking any nausea medication the night before instead of once you’re on the boat. Mark says at least one person on every trip gets sick. We will definitely use Pacific City Fishing on our next trip back here! Super grateful for the laughs, education, and real regards for safety on the boat. Thanks Mark, Marcus, and Linda!
