Growing up in California and New York, our family has always fished but none of us had taken a trip out on the Oregon ocean. We weren’t sure what to expect, other than we thought it was going to be much warmer than it actually was! The fog was heavy and thick all morning leading up to launch and we were lucky to be one of the groups that was actually able to go out on the water. The waves were a little rocky but our captain was incredibly helpful and took extra steps to mitigate any sea sickness. We started off checking out crab pots and found over 60 crab! Going into it, we knew we would likely find rockfish (which we definitely did as the table shows) but we also got two big ling cod. We caught until we had plenty to go around and they welcomed us back to their property to show us how to filet the fish, cooked the crab, and showed us some recipes to make the most of what we caught.
