The fishermen arrived promptly at the appointed time a few minutes before our fearless Captain Mark and his first and only mate Buddy
It was a great adventure.
A lite breeze met us at the Pelican but there was concern among the collective group. Would we have to cancel the fishing trip today. The Dory captains gathered in a apprehensive group and looked at the pounding surf
A good day if you were a surfer but a dangerous day for launching for the sports fishing fleet
After animated hand waving and confirming their liability and boat insurance was up to date the fleet headed down to the shore for additional surf examination and consultation.
Finally we got to salmon fishing part of the trip. A few caught early and some were lost because the Sportmens did not keep their tips up. The challenge of barbless hooks . Captain Mark decided to take us to his super secret salmon area. And we ended up with eight silvers for five fishermen
Finally the a General Eisenhower decision was made and the dory fleet backed one at a time into to surf. Cooperation among the skipper’s and crew got everyone safely into the grey ocean.
The Pacific City Fishing boat had a slow start but Captain Mark moved us to deeper water and we began catching fish. One of the fishermen I believe he known as John in some parts of the free world caught three rock fish with one cast. And two with the next cast. Needless to say it did not take long to fill the boat limit for bottom fish.
Salmon fishing started slow but then the Captain took us to his super secret salmon spot. Poles began to bend and reels turned
The ocean was smooth in the deep waters and it was time for the next adventure collecting the four crab pots. All were brimming full of Dungeness crab.
Eight salmon caught by five fishermen.
It was time to return to the safety of Pacific City. The wild ride to the beach began with blaring horns to worn the numerous surfers. Captain Mark deftly piloted the dory boat riding the surf to an abrupt stop on the sand.
Now we’re milling around the home base of Pacific City charters waiting for the tasty crabs to come out of the pot
A great experience had by all
