I didn't know what to expect when my dad said we were going Dorey fishing but I like to fish so I was in. Then he said "watch this video" and I wasn't sure I'd like the boat ride. But the launch was just the beginning of our fun. Right away we were catching fish. Sea bass one after the other. After limiting out on sea bass we checked crab pots which were stuffed full of crab. And then we fished again. This time for lingcod, man they were big. Landing the boat was an adventure as well, an interesting slide into the beach. I'd like to go again maybe bring my grandpa along. A I have a little bit of Alaska fishing experience from years ago when I was in college. Fishing with Mark and Marcus today was like that in a lot of ways, but better as well. The way we were catching rock fish right away was a really great way to start the day off. Launching off the beach was definitely more fun and interesting than the quay launching in AK. We had to be patient trying to find the Ling cod, but Mark kept moving until we found a good spot. I managed to catch the biggest fish of the day, a large female Ling Cod named "Bertha." Just kidding, we didn't name her. Although I was excited to eat all that lovely Cod Mark explained that she was a female who knew how to produce baby cod and then made it clear I could choose. It was a tough choice but in the end I got a photo and let Bertha live another day. I hope she makes lots more baby Cod and I hope I can come back and catch some of them in the years to come. This fishing trip was a birthday present from my wife and brother (also fishing with me today, and thanks to both of you!) and it was 100% a twofer one as I had a great time fishing and I'm taking home some delicious wild fish for the grill. Like I said I'm convinced, will do again, 100% recommended.
