Pacific city fishing Oregon Paul Voas It was a cold and misty morning at Cape Lookout campground. We woke up at 4:45 am and hopped in the truck , with Jason Preston and his daughter Elliot, with the anticipation of my first ocean fishing experience. not really sure what to expect especially with what I heard about Dori boats launching from the beach. We put on our life vets and to my surprise we jumped into the boat in the parking lot. We drove onto the beach and backed into the water and off we went. Ellie was very excited as we hit our first school of black rock bass. Mark says they are great eating for fish and chips and Jason suggested fish tacos. Moving away from shore the fishing started slow but then Ellie hit fish after fish schooling all of us. She even plucked out triple fish 2 times! Moving around a bit we all caught our limit then proceeded to pull crab pots. We saw all kinds of birds, a dolphin, and even heard a whale surface in the mist though we could not see it. Jason and Paul also hooked a ling cod each. Mark pointed out jellyfish for Ellie. Pretty amazing sight beaching the boat and loading it on to the trailer. Back at the shop Mike and Dylan filleted the fish for us and cooked up the crab. Took pictures of Ellie being brave holding a crab in each hand. Even though I got sick I had a fantastic time and look forward to a feast back at camp. Thank you Mark Lytle and look forward to doing this again.
